Seed Chart — client project through Innovate Product Design: research, IA, UX, UI, handover

The client approached us with a programmed prototype demonstrating an innovative way of hiding a user’s unique seed phrase for their crypto wallet in a series of randomly generated charts that only the user would be able to comprehend, using a set of password, starting set numbers, and PINs. The concept is a secure app for storing and hiding crypto seed phrases using a customisable chart system.

The user must input their unique seed phrase, create a password using a mix of characters and numbers that matches the value in length to the amount of words their unique phrase is, choose a starting set (1–24), and also choose a mandatory PIN (1–84).

One-time charts are generated for that user after all these stages, and the inputs shuffle and embed the phrase into the series of charts that can only be reversed and read using the exact same values.

The client had no experience in designing the user interface and gave complete freedom in bringing his concept to life. The goal was to provide the client with a logo, theme and graphic options, as well as a full demonstrated MVP.

Current methods of storing seed phrases are limited to memory, writing them on a piece of paper, or keeping them on a hardware wallet.

Given that his concept is unique and has very few firmware competitors, it was a good opportunity to design something completely original for the client while sticking with the overall design themes that follow the crypto-verse. The direction of this project was clear with help from the clients initial prototype, so I was able to incorporate brand design/UI elements at a much earlier stage in the commision.
